Inside the life of Ronica Gabel

by Marla Seib

March 03, 2010

Veronica Gabel, who is better known to everyone by her nickname, Ronica, is the daughter of Ronnie and Marcia Gabel. She is the youngest child of their three children. Blaine and Ben Gabel are her two older brothers. Ronica spent her life growing up here in the small town of Ness City and is now finally a senior at NCHS.

Ronica has been a friend of mine since we were very young. We went to the same daycare and played together almost every day. She also attended grade school with me at Sacred Heart School. She participated in volleyball, basketball, and track at SHS, she was a very competitive player.

Today Ronica is a senior at Ness City High School. During her high school years she has participated with much enthusiasm in basketball, volleyball and track. She’s also enjoyed being a member of KAYS and FCCLA. Her favorite class this year is art because she thinks it is amazing, and in Ronica’s opinion Mrs. McIntosh is the best teacher ever! When not spending her time on school activities Ronica enjoys watching TV shows like Grey’s Anatomy, listening to her favorite country music songs and hanging out with her boyfriend. Also, she is a big KU Jayhawk fan so she seldom misses watching a KU game.

Ronica told me that she loves to walk into Mrs. McNinch’s class and hear her singing. She said that is because everyone knows that she is a horrible singer, but Mrs. McNinch hasn’t figured that out yet. Another favorite of Ronica’s is to see that Mrs. Whitley has put chicken strips, mashed potatoes and gravy on the lunch menu. She thinks it’s the best school lunch.

I asked Ronica what she would do if she was lucky enough to win the lottery. She really had a very smart answer for me. She said she would save it to pay later bills. That way of thinking ahead about her future will be very beneficial to her. Her plans after graduation are to attend cosmetology school, but she is undecided at this time as to where that will be. Good luck and best wishes to you Ronica on all your future plans!
