Treva Janssen founded the William (Bill) F. Janssen Memorial Scholarship Fund in 1996 as a tribute to her husband. He was the principal as well as a teacher at the Ness City schools for 40 years. The scholarship is funded through donations and interest from moneys received in memoriam of William F. Janssen. It is a tax exempt charitable organization administered by Treva and Bill's five children.
The selection committee for the scholarship is comprised Bill and Treva's grandchildren, some of whom reside in the state of Kansas and some who reside in Colorado. The family feels this makes for an unbiased selection.
This award is open to all Ness County, Kansas residents or students. It can be a high school senior starting the path of higher education or an adult continuing or beginning their road to further success. There is no required GPA, and applications will be accepted until March 15.
