Ms. Eichenberger's Oral Communications classes recently performed skits. The classes were split in half to come up with ideas for their performances. Each group had to perform a skit with 6-9 members and a skit with 3-4 members. The group had to assign each member a job, which could be a writer, actor or actress, narrator, or prop person. Each member of the group then had to grade each other on the performances and by the contributions they made to the skit.
The members had to think up a situation, setting, and characters for the skit. For instance, one particular group came up with the situation and setting as coming across a dead body in a dark forest with the main characters being Rofquisha and Sir Charm, romantic lovers who come across the body, and Officer Farva and his assistant, Estelle, a police duet who solves the case, and Ursula, the violent psycho murderer.
Another skit created was that of "1000 Ways to Die" by Colton, Charlie, Taylor, and Ashlee. In the first scene, Colton and Charlie graffiti the school and make it a mess before one of the teachers comes in and shoots Colton and Charlie. In another scene, Colton and Charlie are starring in the show, "Brokeback Mountain".T they ride into town singing folk tunes. They stop into a shop to buy some supplies; however, Ashlee mixes up the order and gives them a deadly solution. As you can tell this did not end well for either.
Ben, Katie, and Danielle pretended that their plane had crashed on an island. The kids, Ben and Danielle, cause trouble by stealing clothes from a suitcase and a video camera. The mother, Katie, awakens and chases the kids around the island to try to get them to put the stuff back. After a while they spot a boat and wave on the shorefront to gain the attention of the sailors.
As you can tell, this project entails a lot of imagination and innovation. The students performed these skits, which were usually humorous and entertaining, to the other class members.
