Survivors Struggle in Haiti
What you can do to help those in Haiti!

    On Tuesday afternoon, January 12, the worst earthquake in over 200 years struck in the poorest nation of the Western Hemisphere: Haiti. The magnitude of this earthquake was 7.0 and was later followed by after shocks with magnitudes of 5.0. Many structures were destroyed or collapsed by the extreme earthquake. Many have said that the damage is worse than if a hurricane or tsunami hit. Everything from homes to national landmarks will be gone forever. 

    It is still very early in this recovery effort, but millions are most likely displaced and thousands are feared dead. Rescue teams from all over the world have come in to help Haiti survivors and give them hope. President Barack Obama promised an all-out rescue effort including the U.S. military and emergency teams. The troops and ships have been delivering tons of food, medicine, and other supplies along with aid from many other nations. The international Red Cross Association has estimated that over a third of the population will need relief effort. The Red Cross has asked for many donations to Haiti in this time of need. To safely donate to the relief effort you can contribute online to the Red Cross.
